Congress Theme: How to avoid undesired events in MIS
The EAES organizes a range of professional events annually to accommodate membership needs in terms of education, training, research and peer to peer networking. The EAES flagship event is the annual International Congress, which attracts on average 1500-2000 attendees and takes place in the month of June.
In addition the EAES organizes various specific discipline focused courses, hands on training events and workshops. EAES also officially recognizes and endorses educational events by independent parties.

Please not that this call is for amazing technologies abstracts only. All submissions from deviant topics will not be accepted!
All abstracts must be submitted online via the EAES abstract submission page. (Please read conditions before submitting your abstract)
GENERAL GUIDELINES
- Only original studies can be accepted. Those already published or presented prior to the EAES congress will not be considered for presentation.
- The scientific material selected for presentation at the congress will be divided into oral and poster.
Once the abstract selection process has been completed (end of March), authors whose abstracts have been chosen for oral or poster presentation will be notified.
Please note that only presenting authors having registered for the Congress and having paid the appropriate registration fee by 15 April 2022 will be included in the program.
GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATION
Authors whose abstract is chosen for oral presentation should note that seven minutes are allocated for oral presentation followed by 3 minutes for discussion.
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Abstracts must be submitted in English. All accepted abstracts will be published in a separate online issue of the journal Surgical Endoscopy dedicated to congress abstracts and will be available online.
- Authors presenting an accepted paper must register to attend the 30th International EAES Congress and pay the appropriate registration fee before 15 April 2022. Failure to register automatically implies that the abstract will neither be included in the program and congress app nor published in the digital journal Surgical Endoscopy.
- Notification of rejection or acceptance of abstracts together with instructions for presentation will be mailed end of March 2022 to the address given on the abstract form.
- By submitting your abstract, you accept that you will be the presenting author, unless otherwise indicated upon submission. Furthermore, you will make sure to be available at the date and time of presentation that will be allocated to you at a later stage.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING ABSTRACTS
- Abstracts should be organized as follows:
Title:
- A short and specific title that indicates the objectives of the study. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title.
- The entire title can be no longer than 150 characters.
- Abstracts must be written as follows:
- No blank line between paragraphs
- Abbreviations may be used in the text only, but they must be defined on the first usage
- References and credits are not to be included in the abstract
- The text can be no longer than 350 words and should contain:
- Aims
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion(s)
Dear Friends,
Each and every one of us had undesired events happen in our careers. We can either ignore them or share our experiences with others. By choosing the latter attitude we can help less experienced surgeons avoid complications and improve the quality of minimally invasive surgery.
This is the main goal of the 2022 congress in Kraków, Poland.
In Poland, we have been testing this formula for seven years now by inviting experts from the whole world to talk about their own difficult situations, undesired events and the ways they managed to overcome difficulties. Surprisingly this attitude increases the reliability of the surgeons. One of my colleagues after a talk about his complications was asked by a doctor listening to the lecture to operate on her daughter.
Please, feel invited to the beautiful city of Kraków 5-8 July 2022 to reduce the risk of undesired events happening to our patients.

Registration fee includes: All Scientific Sessions and Poster Presentations, Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception Tuesday 5 July, Admission to the Exhibition, Electronic material (program, abstracts etc.), Coffee Breaks, Certificate of Attendance; after a completed digital survey, a certificate of attendance will be sent by email.
In registering for “EAES 2022” participants agree that neither the organising committee nor the congress office assumes any liability whatsoever. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements for health and travel insurance.
Cancellation and refunds
Notification of cancellation must be sent in writing to the EAES Office. Cancellations will be accepted until 15 April 2022 with a refund of all registration fees less € 50 administration fee. Full registration fee is applicable and no refunds can be made for cancellations after 15 April 2022 or for participants who do not attend. All refunds will be handled after the congress.
