Congress Theme: The future belongs to the next generation

The EAES organizes a range of professional events annually to accommodate membership needs in terms of education, training, research and peer to peer networking. The EAES flagship event is the annual International Congress, which attracts on average 1500-2000 attendees and takes place in the month of June.

In addition the EAES organizes various specific discipline focused courses, hands on training events and workshops. EAES also officially recognizes and endorses educational events by independent parties.

All abstracts must be submitted online via the EAES abstract submission page. Please read conditions before submitting your abstract:

GENERAL GUIDELINES

• Only original studies can be accepted. Those already published or presented prior to the EAES congress will not be considered for presentation.
• The scientific material selected for presentation at the Congress will be divided into oral, poster, and video presentations.
• For video presentation there will be a possibility to upload your video, information will follow in due time.
• Once the Abstract selection process has been completed (end of January), authors whose abstracts have been accepted for Oral or Poster Presentation will be notified. Please note that only presenting authors having registered and paid for the Congress by 1 April 2023 will be included in the program. Failure to register automatically implies that the abstract will neither be included in the program and congress app nor published in the digital journal Surgical Endoscopy.
• All accepted abstracts will be published in a separate online issue of the journal Surgical Endoscopy dedicated to congress abstracts and will be available online.
• By submitting your abstract you accept that you will be the presenting author, unless otherwise indicated upon submission. Furthermore, you will make sure to be available at the date and time of presentation that will be allocated to you at a later stage.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING ABSTRACTS

1. Abstracts must be submitted in English.

2. Abstracts should be organized as follows:
Title:

• A short and specific title that indicates the objectives of the study. Abbreviations should be avoided in the title.
• The entire title can be no longer than 150 characters.

3. Abstracts must be written as follows:

• No blank line between paragraphs
• Abbreviations may be used in the text only, but they must be defined on the first usage
• References and credits are not to be included in the abstract
• The text can be no longer than 350 words and should contain:
  Aims
  Methods
  Results
  Conclusion

4. Select topic: There are 8 streams and each stream has several subtopics, some streams have the same subtopic, so please check first before you choose and submit.

Dear friends and dear colleagues,

It is my privilege and honour to introduce the 31st International EAES congress, to be held in Roma in June 2023, incorporating the XXI SICE national congress. (Società italiana di Chirurgia Endoscopica…….).

In recent, unlucky times, interfacing with colleagues and friends happened through a virtual modality.

Now, we are back to the possibility of meeting in person, seeing and speaking with each other, renovating friendships, creating new personal links.

And this will happen in Roma, the city where all roads bring people from all over Europe and the World since millennia!

The congress, themed “The future belongs to the next generation”, aims to give our brilliant and enthusiastic young surgeons, space and opportunity to update, and be updated, on a wide field of minimally invasive and endoscopic cutting-edge technologies, new procedures and techniques, protocols and more.

To this end, the congress will represent a valuable platform to interact with first-class scientists through discussions, “meet the expert” opportunities and master classes and hands-on courses.

The leading role of EAES in innovation and education has been consolidated through decades and based on solid ground: Roma2023 will undoubtedly confirm and reinforce this position in the surgical arena.

Please note: participation in the hands-on courses is limited (see course description for maximum participants). Participation is only available to participants registering also to the core congress 20 June till 23 June 2023.

Technology Symposium:

A special registration fee to attend the Technology Symposium applies to those registered for the core congress from 20 June till 23 June 2023.
