It is my great honor to host the 48th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Japanese Society of Hypertension (JSH 2026) in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, at the Light Cube Utsunomiya convention center.
Located just 50 minutes from Tokyo by Shinkansen, Utsunomiya is a city where nature and urban life are harmoniously integrated. It is also renowned as a “City of Jazz”, rich in culture and creativity. Music flows through the streets, and people connect with warmth and openness—a city that truly embodies our conference theme of “network.”
We warmly welcome all participants to join us for an inspiring and collegial meeting of learning and exchange.

Theme:
“Network Hypertension in a New Era – Toward Next-Generation Medicine Bridging Time and Space”
In Japan, approximately 43 million people are affected by hypertension, yet only one in four achieves adequate blood pressure control, even under treatment. This challenge stems from the “three barriers” of hypertension management: not measuring, not continuing, and not connecting.
To overcome these barriers, we have advanced the philosophy of Implementation Hypertension, promoting the dissemination of guidelines and their integration into society. A flagship initiative, the “Morning Blood Pressure Campaign”, aims to foster a national culture of morning BP measurement—anchoring a new health awareness that “measuring protects your health.”

Advances and Implementation in Antihypertensive Therapy
Hypertension management has now entered a new stage beyond conventional pharmacotherapy, driven by advances in evidence and technology. Novel agents such as SGLT2 inhibitors, ARNIs, and next-generation mineralocorticoid receptor blockers have demonstrated benefits for 24-hour blood pressure control, including nighttime blood pressure. Combination therapies have improved medication adherence, while renal denervation and other device-based treatments are emerging as promising options for resistant hypertension, drawing global attention. This meeting will explore these “advances in antihypertensive therapy” through an integrated framework of pharmacological treatment, lifestyle intervention, and device therapy, shaping the next-generation model of hypertension care.

Toward the Era of “Digital Hypertension”
Recent innovations in AI analysis, wearable blood pressure monitoring, remote care, and digital therapeutics (DTx) have transformed hypertension management. By connecting data across clinics, homes, communities, and workplaces, the concept of “Digital Hypertension” is becoming a clinical reality. This paradigm visualizes blood pressure variability across time (morning, night, seasonal) and space (home, workplaces, clinic), enabling AI-driven, personalized blood pressure control.
Such spatiotemporal data integration forms the core of “Time-Space Network Hypertension”, creating a new medical ecosystem that links people, data, science, and daily life.

Global Collaboration and Future Perspectives
Through collaboration with our partners across Asia, this meeting will pursue the establishment of an “Asia Model for Hypertension Management.” By sharing evidence that reflects regional characteristics—such as salt intake, climate, and cultural practices—the Japanese Society of Hypertension aims to lead the world in advancing hypertension care.
We are pleased to announce that JSH 2026 Utsunomiya will feature a full-day International Session dedicated to hypertension management and treatment across Asia. We warmly invite physicians and researchers from all Asian countries to submit abstracts and share their latest findings.

Presenters who wish to do so will have the opportunity for Fast-Track peer review for publication in Hypertension Research. Please indicate your cover letter, and submit your manuscript at the time of abstract registration. At Light Cube Utsunomiya—a venue filled with light, sound, and vibrant interaction your request for “Fast Track review” with the registration number of your presentation across medicine, society, and culture.
