Objectives

• Describe changes to accreditation standards, services and resources available to cancer programs, and important future developments available to accredited cancer programs.
• Illustrate how the quality improvement process, quality measures, National Cancer Database (NCDB) real-time reports, American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging protocols, operative standards and synoptic operative reports, and other tools can be applied in local programs to improve performance and care for patients with cancer.
• Develop and implement efficient and effective program structures and processes to ensure a successful accreditation site visit.

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Cancer Programs is seeking abstracts for posters that will be displayed at the ACS Cancer Conference: Improving Cancer Care for All,February 22–24, 2024, in Austin, TX. Deadline extended to Monday, November 27, 2023 at 12:00 pm CT.

Abstracts are requested from physicians, advanced practice providers, allied healthcare professionals. administrators, nurses, program coordinators, and cancer registrars at programs that are accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC), National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), and National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC).

Abstract Submission Guidelines

All submissions must be completed at one time. If you leave the system, you will need to complete your submission from the beginning. Please have the following items ready:

• Title of presentation abstract
• Description of abstract (200 words max)
• Facility Identification Number for your facility

Abstract Topics

Abstract content should focus on projects that improve cancer program performance with the CoC, NAPBC, and/or NAPRC standartds, including:

• Quality improvement projects to improve screening, access to care, and program performance
• Health equity in the accredited program
• Improving performance with accreditation standards
• Operative standards implementation
• Improving patient outcomes
• Survivorship: developing programs and improving services
• Staging: addressing challenges at the program level  

You may submit an abstract on more that one topic.

Your abstract should focus on reaching an audience that will include participants representing all ACS Cancer Programs.

The authors of some abstracts will be invited to present their content as part of a conference session.

Three events are offered during this conference:

• QI Basics Workshop: February 21, 1:00–5:00 pm (4 hours)
• NAPBC Workshop: February 22, 7:30 am–12:00 pm (4.5 hours)
• Full Conference: February 22–24*

*Full conference does not include workshops; they may be purchased in addition.

All events are separate and require a separate fee.

Registration Fees

• Full Conference: $875
• NAPBC Workshop Only: $450
• QI Workshop Only: $450

Note: A nonrefundable administrative fee of $75 is applied to every registration.
