Late Breaking Abstract Guidelines

ISPNO recognizes that some rapidly advancing investigations may include results that will not be available at the time of the abstract submission deadline of February 5, 2024. For this reason, ISPNO will allow authors to submit their Late-Breaking research for consideration for ISPNO, however submissions must adhere to guidelines below.

Please note that only a limited number of abstracts from this Late-Breaking category will be selected for oral presentation at the meeting. Authors should note the following important information before submitting a Late-Breaking Abstract:

  • Late-Breaking abstracts will be considered for oral presentation only.
  • Late-Breaking abstracts accepted for oral presentation will not be included in the regular abstract supplement to Neuro-Oncology and will be published electronically on the day of presentation.
  • Late-Breaking abstracts not accepted for presentation will not be considered for any type of presentation format (poster or oral) and will not be part of the meeting program.
  • Late-Breaking abstracts will not be considered for awards.

This category is not intended to offer a second deadline for regular abstract submissions.

For an abstract to be considered for Late-Breaking Abstract status, the submitting author must:

  • Select the “Late-Breaking Abstract” category in the abstract submission site.

  • Submit an abstract, including the objectives and methods but excluding the results and conclusions of the research, by the submission deadline of Monday, February 5, 2024. Include any information that supports the potential for late-breaking impact, and the date of planned analysis for the abstract.

  • Submit a final Late-Breaking abstract (with updated data) by Monday, April 15, 2024. If an updated abstract is not submitted by that date, the abstract will be automatically rejected.

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 21st International Symposium on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology (ISPNO 2024), which will take place in Philadelphia, PA, from June 28 – July 2, 2024.

The third ISPNO was held in 1991 in Philadelphia, and we are excited to host again!  In the ensuing three decades, ISPNO has grown into the largest and most important scientific meeting focused on pediatric central nervous system tumors.  It attracts clinicians and researchers from a wide range of disciplines including neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, neurology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, neuropsychology, neuroscience, rehabilitation medicine, nursing, and more, as well as advocates and supporters of the pediatric neuro-oncology community.  ISPNO welcomes attendees from around the world, including those joining for the first time.  It is an amazing opportunity to meet experts in the field, learn about cutting-edge science, launch new collaborations, and catch up with colleagues and friends.

ISPNO 2024 will be hosted by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Brain Tumor Program.  The symposium will include a comprehensive scientific program covering the latest preclinical, translational, and clinical research updates on virtually all areas of pediatric neuro-oncology - diagnostics, treatment and clinical trial advances, novel drug delivery systems, biomarkers, preclinical models, tumor microenvironment, imaging, outcomes and late effects.  There will also be an Education Day, nursing sessions, keynote lectures, panel discussions on challenging issues in the field, sunrise sessions, lunchtime symposia, and, of course, a social program.

As one of the largest cities in the United States, visitors to Philadelphia enjoy world-class  restaurants, first rate museums, and beautiful city parks.  In addition, as the birthplace of America, Philadelphia is steeped in historical significance with many extraordinary attractions like the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the National Constitution Center.  The symposium venue, the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, is in the heart of the city (~15 minutes from the airport) and only a short walk to most of the historical sites and major city attractions.  Philadelphia also provides easy access to other major U.S. cities, including New York and Washington, D.C. (both of which are only 1-2 hours by train), is one hour from the Atlantic Ocean, and is a great jumping off point for a vacation in the United States.

Please stay tuned for more information on ISPNO 2024 as the event approaches.  We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia!

Sincerely,

Michael J. Fisher, M.D.
