The COSA Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) is Australia’s premier cancer meeting, held over three days each year, usually in November. The ASM is a multidisciplinary meeting, inviting participation from doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and scientists working in cancer care nationally and internationally. A different state hosts the ASM each year, with a specific theme and focus on a cancer type.

We are honoured to be co-convening the 2024 COSA ASM to be held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November 2024, with pre-conference workshops being held on Tuesday 12 November.
The theme for the 2024 COSA ASM is
Bridging gaps, building progress, breaking down disparities
The disease theme will have a strong focus on cancers with poorer outcomes – and include sessions on carcinoma of unknown primary, pancreatic cancers, and brain metastases, just to name a few.
COSA first introduced an equity theme in 2022 – a theme which resonated well with COSA members and delegates, so we are keen to incorporate it again as it aligns well with poorer outcome cancers.
It’s been eight years since the COSA ASM was held on the Gold Coast, so we are excited to bring it back. We have a wealth of experience locally and across Australia more broadly. We will be highlighting our domestic expertise throughout the program, as well as including a number of international experts. Stay tuned for more information as it comes to hand.
The COSA ASM program reflects our multidisciplinary society membership. Together with the Program Committee, we have developed an exciting and educational program that has something for everyone.
Some of our favourite sessions include those we haven’t seen on a COSA program for years and some which revisit and update previously presented but equally important topics such as:
- Equity, access and advocacy
- Removing barriers of access to care with technology
- Cancer care in vulnerable populations
- Prevention and promotion in my practice
- Gender and access to care
- Implementation and evaluation through an equity lens
- Transitions in cancer care
- Looking after yourself whilst looking after others
- The elephant in the room – uncomfortable conversations
- Artificial intelligence
We are confident the ASM will be a success, but that relies on each and every one of us to ensure that. Please join us on the Gold Coast this November. We look forward to seeing you there.
