Welcome Messages

On behalf of the Executive Committee and the Organising Committee, we welcome you to the Combined Meeting of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, Singapore Arthroplasty Society, Asia Pacific Paediatric Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and Indonesian Orthopedic Association. In 2021, the Singapore Arthroplasty Society was founded under the auspices of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association to provide high-quality specialist education, training and continued professional development in the field of hip and knee arthroplasty. This year our theme for the scientific meeting is “When Tradition Meets Modernity”. From the usage of robotic hip and knee surgeries and 3-D printed patient-specific implants to the promise of artificial intelligence, our practice of Orthopaedic Surgery is increasingly influenced by modern technologies. Meanwhile, much of our practice is still rooted in traditions which have stood the test of time. As we stand together at this intersection, we invite you to explore with us how the wisdom of tradition and the endless potential of modernity can come together. The Organising Committee was formed and set to work early, putting in all their effort to set an exceptional programme. World-renowned speakers will grace this scientific meeting. Pre-conference cadaveric workshops have been organised, which include robotic joint replacement surgeries. We have strived to ensure that all participants return from the meeting having significantly improved their scientific knowledge and surgical skills. We hope that you will enjoy the meeting and that your interaction with your colleagues will stimulate a creative exchange of ideas. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organising committee members, speakers, participants, secretariats and corporate sponsors for making this scientific meeting a great success. In this new post-COVID-19 era, I hope you will have a wonderful time visiting this beautiful island city where old historical buildings still stand amidst towering skyscrapers – an apt illustration of the wonderful landscape that can be created when tradition meets modernity.
