Abstract Formatting
- All abstracts must be written in English.
- When submitting your abstract, consider and choose the appropriate category, scientific topic and the presentation method.
- The maximum abstract title is 20 words and must be submitted using the sentence case (eg. This is the title of my abstract).
- Up to 10 authors can be submitted for one abstract (including the presenting author).
- The maximum abstract length is 250 words.
- Up to 2 pictures/charts/tables can be included within the abstract text. (Please check the step-by-step picture upload guide below.)

• Charts can only be inserted as a picture (saved as .jpg first)

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the PTCOG Executive Committee and of the Local Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to Madrid for the 61st edition of the annual PTCOG meeting. Madrid, the capital and most populous city of Spain, will astound you with its history, architecture, and local attractions. The meeting is co-organized by the two proton therapy centers in Madrid, while Spain is about to build 10 more centers to become the leading European country in proton therapy. A perfect time to hold the particle therapy meeting in Spain!
The conference this year will start with an educational session in Spanish language, followed by two days of education program in English language and 3 days of multi-session scientific reports with several subcommittee meetings in between. The conference theme is “Integrative Particle Therapy and Complementary Care“ reflecting the importance of integrating particle therapy into comprehensive cancer care. We expect an outstanding scientific program covering clinics, physics, and biology topics, many plenary talks and round tables for debating hot issues in particle therapy.
These days we are experience an inflection point in particle therapy. The number of centers is rapidly increasing all over the world, and over the past year we saw a lot of convincing evidence from clinical trials on the benefit of charged particle therapy. PTCOG is also rapidly growing, reaching now over 4,000 members and nearly 100 facility representatives in the Steering Committee. The Steering Committee elected new members of the Executive Committee during the PTCOG 60 meeting in 2021, and this will be the first meeting for the new PTCOG chair and vice-chairs, as well as for the new chairs of the Educational Sub-Committee. We hope that in Madrid all of you will participate in one of our 14 active Sub-Committees. We will also discuss PTCOG funding for small research projects and the future of the PTCOG Scientific journal, the International Journal of Particle Therapy. The Steering Committee will also be called to elect new members of the Executive Committee and to decide the site of the 2026 PTCOG annual meeting.
We look forward to your participation and spending time with you in Madrid. We are sure that this will be an awesome scientific experience and we also hope you will enjoy the local flavor and hospitality.
