1. Before you submit an abstract, please register for the conference on this website, otherwise your abstract cannot be accepted!
2. Click on the link "Submit an abstract now" at the bottom of this page.
3. Click on “Create account and submit contribution”
4. Fill in all the required fields like Organization/Company, Title, First Name, Last Name etc.
5. When you've filled in all the fields click on  “Submit and Begin With the Submission of a Contribution”
6. To submit your abstract click on “Abstract Submission”
7. Enter each author first name, middle name, last name, e-mail, institution and who the presenting author will be.
8. Enter the institution for each author. It is not required to input the same institution multiple times, as you will be able to select the institutions from the list you have input. 
9. Complete the abstract title box
10. Submit the abstract body (300 words maximum).
11. Select your Topics
12. Fill in you research experience
13. Choose the awards you want to apply for
14. Enter all your keywords (separate each by a comma)
15. Tell us if it is your first congress
16. Click on “Proceed”
17. Save your submission, please note that you have the opportunity of revising it until the submission deadline (July 31st, 2023).

Dear ESS family and sympathizers,

After a four-year long pause caused by the COVID-19, we finally have a chance to meet again face-to-face - our European Shock Society (ESS) congress is back in business! The 20th ESS congress is unique as it marks the 40th anniversary of the ESS existence. Yet again, after successful 2005 and 2013 editions, we are inviting you to the European crossroads – Vienna.

To appropriately mark this special occasion, we located the congress in an elegant intellectual ambience of the University of Vienna. Additionally, we have organized a program truly worthy of such an anniversary – please review the details of the scientific and social events provided on this website.

Personally, I am very thrilled about the “40 Years of ESS: Reminiscences” round-table that will bring together the past ESS presidents – nearly all have confirmed their presence.

As before, this biennial event focuses on merging translational sciences with clinical needs in the area of critical care illnesses. We are honored to welcome in Vienna numerous renowned scientists including Alberto Mantovani as the keynote presenter. Our speakers, who come from all corners of the European continent (and beyond), will ensure an exciting thematic diversity and top meritorious quality.

As always, we have put an utmost effort to make our ESS congress junior-friendly. It features several events specifically oriented toward students and junior scientists including the pre-congress ESS Summer School and the European New Investigator Award Competition. There will also be ample opportunities for meritorious recognition and presentation of research findings.

It goes without saying that we are very much looking forward to your participation in this scientifically important and enjoyable event in the beautiful city of Vienna. See you ‘all in September!
