2023 ESMO Asia Congress - European Society for Medical Oncology

The ESMO Asia Congress 2023 will welcome you in Singapore from 1 to 3 December, to present and discuss the latest scientific and clinical advances across the entire field of oncology, of relevance at a global level, and for the Asia-Pacific region. The outstanding scientific programme will cover the latest advances on the most prevalent cancer types in the region, offering high quality multidisciplinary educational sessions and special sessions in collaboration with illustrious international and Asia-Pacific oncology associations. As usual, there will be a special focus on the Pan-Asian Guidelines Adaptation (PAGA) Lectures, conceived to share best practice standards of care for cancer patients and providing a framework for the structured interaction of key opinion leaders in oncology from Asia and Europe. Outcome notifications

Outcome notifications are expected to be made available to first authors by mid/end-October 2023.

Information for presenters

Detailed instructions for the preparation of slide presentations and/or posters will be made available on the ESMO website in early August 2023, in the section “Information for Presenters”.

Late-breaking abstracts (LBA)

Late-breaking abstracts may be submitted for high quality, new research findings from randomised phase II or phase III trials with implications for clinical practice or understanding of disease processes.

The work must not have been previously published in any publication in a peer review setting or presented at a meeting of any other scientific organisation prior to the ESMO Asia Congress 2023.

A preliminary abstract indicating the type of data that will be available by the late-breaking abstract deadline must be submitted online by the regular abstract deadline on 22 August 2023.

Submitters of preliminary versions receiving approval to proceed must submit the final LBA by 10 October 2023, 18:00 SGT (Central European Summer Time).

The final late-breaking abstract deadline of 14 September 2023 is under no circumstances to be considered as an extension of the general submission deadline.

Trial in progress abstracts (TiP)

Trial in Progress (TiP) abstracts in all phases of clinical research (phases I to III) may be submitted to the ESMO Asia Congress 2023.

It is expected that abstracts submitted as Trial in Progress are ongoing trials that have not reached any protocol-specified endpoints for analysis and consequently will only require the completion of two (2) sections: Background and Trial design.

• Recruitment must have already begun or have been completed by the abstract submission deadline of 22 August 2023
• Abstracts including results or preliminary data will be rejected
• Trial in Progress abstracts can be accepted for Poster presentation only
• Encore TiP abstracts will not be accepted

Presentation and publication of accepted abstracts

The ESMO Asia 2023 Scientific Committee will select abstracts for presentation during the Congress based on the following possibilities:

• Presidential Symposium – Oral presentations by authors presenting cutting-edge and significant clinical practice-changing studies, followed by expert discussion and perspectives.
• Proffered Paper – Oral presentations by authors presenting original data of superior quality, followed by expert discussion and perspectives.
• Mini Oral – Short oral presentations by authors presenting data of good quality, followed by expert discussion and perspectives.
• Poster – Display session for review, discussion and questions. The presenting authors must be available for Q&A to represent their work.

All accepted abstracts, including late-breaking abstracts, will be published online only in the ESMO Asia Congress 2023 Abstract Book, a supplement to the official ESMO journal, Annals of Oncology.

ESMO Merit Travel Grants 

A limited number of ESMO Merit travel grants to ESMO Asia Congress 2023 are available, upon application, to first authors (= presenter) who submit abstracts considered to be deserving of recognition. Candidates must be ESMO Members under the age of 40. Selection will be made by the ESMO Asia Congress 2023 Scientific Committee on a competitive basis from among the accepted abstracts.

The ESMO Asia Congress 2023 will take place in Singapore, on-site format only.

Registration fees and deadlines

Individual registration will remain open for the duration of the congress. The ESMO Congress Secretariat must receive one completed registration per participant and the corresponding payment in SGD by the given deadlines.

ESMO membership must be active seven (7) days prior to the registration deadline for the reduced member registration fee to be applied.

* Applicable to ESMO members from developing countries only. At the time of application, developing countries are defined by ESMO according to the World Bank classification of low, lower-middle and upper-middle countries based on the Gross National Income (GNI) per capita. Download the PDF outlining which countries are eligible for the discounted registration fees.
** ESMO members must be under 40 and in training to qualify for this fee
