The ESDE2023 Scientific Committee welcomes the submission of high quality abstracts focusing on a wide variety of topics:
- Benign
- Malignant
- Functional
- Clinical research
- Fundamental research
- Imaging
- Surgery
- Radiotherapy
- Medical oncology
- Histo-pathology
- Endoscopy
- New techniques
Abstracts can be submitted for one of the following formats:
- Free paper (oral/poster)
- Case report (poster)
- Video
The final decision whether an abstract submission is accepted as an oral presentation, poster presentation or video will be taken by the Scientific Committee. More information on the session types can be found below.
- Abstracts are to be written in English and should be submitted electronically using the Conftool abstract management system.
- All abstracts must be relevant to the conference topics. Authors will be asked to select the topics that best suit their submission. This is to assist with the review process and the creation of the conference programme itself.
- Length of the abstract text:
- Background (maximum 75 words)
- Methods (maximum 100 words)
- Results (maximum 100 words)
- Conclusion (maximum 75 words)
- The text and the title should be free from abbreviations, except those commonly used. It should concisely address the problem and the purpose of the study (BACKGROUND); how the study was performed (METHODS); the main findings with numerical data and statistical significance (RESULTS); and the principal conclusions drawn from the study (CONCLUSION).
- The title of the abstract should be printed in CAPITAL LETTERS; the name(s) of the author(s) should be preceded by the full first name (middle name Initial optional) - omit titles.
- Your affiliation or institute should not be mentioned in the title nor in the abstract text since abstracts will be judged anonymously.
- Presenters can apply for the ESDE young investigator award if they are a ESDE Member of max. 35 years (on 8 February 2023).
- The use of 1 table or 1 image or 1 graph is possible without penalty. Tables (maximum 5 columns and 7 rows), images (5x7 inches) or graphs must be uploaded in JPG or TIFF format at 300 dpi.
- In case of a video, you will be asked to also submit a low quality video (max. 50MB) to be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.

26TH EUROPEAN CONFERENCE ON ESOPHAGEAL DISEASES
Dear colleague
We are proud to announce that the next meeting of the European Society for Diseases of the Esophagus, ESDE2023 will be held from 8 – 10 February 2023 in Leuven, Belgium.
The ESDE is the premier multi-disciplinary European organisation, branch of the International Society for Diseases of the Esophagus (ISDE), covering all aspects of esophageal diseases and disorders. Its annual meetings aim to gather together all specialties involved in the clinical management and research of esophageal diseases. The recent, rapid developments in molecular biology, diagnosis, staging and treatments for esophageal both benign and malignant diseases require continuous education.
Besides offering an exquisite opportunity to connect with your peers all interested in the domain, the target of this ESDE Annual Meeting is to highlight and spotlight the neverending quest for new insights in the field of esophagology.
ESDE2023 will take place in the historical center of Leuven, Belgium, being a vibrant university town in the heart of Europe, home to the oldest university of the Low Countries (est. 1425), close to Brussels and a short train ride from Brussels Airport. Excellent high-speed train connections are available from Paris, London, Amsterdam, Cologne and Frankfurt.
The programme committee has started to establish an exciting programme with also postgraduate precourses covering technical aspects in some subdomains of our common field of interest.
