he European Association of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (EACTAIC) Annual Congress is recognised as a leading international forum for the exchange of knowledge in the fields of cardiovascular and thoracic anaesthesia. The inaugural meeting took place in Cambridge in 1986. Subsequently, the meeting has been organised in a large number of cities around Europe. Most recently, the meetings have been held in Vienna (2011), Amsterdam (2012), Barcelona (2013), Florence (2014), Gothenburg (2015), Basel (2016), Berlin (2017), Manchester (2018), Ghent (2019), Grenoble (2020, Online edition due to COVID-19 pandemic), Joint EACTAIC-ICCVA (2021, Online edition), Naples (2022). The 2023 EACTAIC Annual Congress will be held in Budapest, Hungary, on October 11-13, 2023.

Each event attracts the region’s key leaders in these fields. The Annual Meeting offers a unique platform to connect with all the aspects of our sub-­speciality of cardiothoracic and vascular anaesthesia and intensive care through educational symposia, round tables, lectures, networking and social activities. By doing so, the Annual Meeting is valuable to both professional colleagues and to our industry partners. We aim to provide the environment in which innovation and collaboration can take place, through the sharing of the latest knowledge, information, creative thinking and differing global perspectives.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

Before preparing and typing your abstract, please read carefully the following instructions:

·Abstracts can be submitted via the online Abstract Submission Service only. Abstracts sent by email will not be accepted.

·Abstract must be in English.

·The deadline for abstract submission is midnight Central European Time on May 5, 2023. Abstracts submitted after this date will not be accepted.

·The complete abstract must not exceed 300 characters for the TITLE and 500 words / 4000 characters for the BODY.

·Type the text, including tables and figures, in single line spacing and using Times New Roman 11. Do not use smaller type.

·TITLE: capitalize the entire title. Spell out words. Do not use abbreviations and check that your title is complete in case you copy and paste it into the field.

·AUTHORS/AFFILIATIONS: you may enter up to 20 authors in the authors list and 20 affiliations. The presenting must be part of the authors list included in the submitted abstract. The names of authors will be published as listed on the submission form. Please make sure you have entered the full list of authors. The authors’ order and details (names, cities, country codes) will be published as entered in the form.

·TEXT: begin the text on a new line. The text should be arranged using the following headings: objective, design and method, results and conclusions.

·Do not include authors, institutions, city and abbreviations in the title or in the text since the grading and selection process is blinded.

·Do not include grant acknowledgements in the abstract content. Do not cite keywords or references in the abstract, as they are not allowed and will be deleted.

·Abstract will be accepted according to scientific merit.

·EACTAIC allows the submission of abstracts for original contribution to the field only.

NOTE: Registration is compulsory in order to present an abstract during the Meeting.

Final selection of abstract will be made by the Scientific Committee by the end of June. All abstracts’ corresponding authors will be then notified about the outcome (accepted or not accepted) of the review process.

Please ensure that the email provided during the abstract submission is accurate as all correspondences will be sent via email.

Please be informed that the scientific programme of the congress, including the list of all abstracts and related presenting authors, will be submitted to AIFA (Italian Ministry of Health) for a Pre-request of authorization.

Starting from August 1, 2021 the submitted abstracts cannot be withdrawn and no change to the titles or to the authors will be allowed.

Please note that the accepted abstracts will be published in the form given by the author and will not be edited/revised/corrected.
