The WSES 2022 Congress abstract submission process is now open, and will close at AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) 17:00 on Monday 30 May, 2022.

TEMPLATE

All submissions must utilise the ABSTRACT SUBMISSION TEMPLATE, and note the following:

• Your research area of focus should cover Emergency Surgery/Trauma Surgery
• Your abstract must be 250 WORDS or less (excluding title and author/s)
• Your submission must include your training level: Fellow/Consultant, Surgical Trainee etc.
• Research papers should follow the format of: PURPOSE, METHODOLOGY, RESULTS, CONCLUSION
• Please do not include references, images, tables, and/or figures. If you include the aforementioned, they will be removed
• Case studies will not be considered 
• Please note, no more than two (2) abstracts will be accepted per applicant

Categories

Abstracts will be considered for the following categories:

1. Podium: Papers selected for podium presentations will be allocated date, time, and duration (presentation time + Q&A) with the scientific program
2. Poster: Papers selected for poster presentations will have their posters on display for the duration of the event where possible. In addition, poster presenters will also participate in a 'Quick Shot Poster Round' involving a two minute/one slide podium presentation - to be scheduled during the program.

Presenters

• Applicants who are successfully chosen to present their research must be an active member of, or choose to join, the WSES (application details can be found here)
• Applicants who are successfully chosen to present their research - verbal or poster - must register and attend in person (Covid-restrictions permitting)
• Outside of Covid-related restrictions, the inability to attend in person will deem your paper invalid
• Should it not be possible to travel due to Covid-related restrictions, a virtual presentation option will be made available
• Selected papers will be offered the opportunity to submit full articles to the WJES for fast-track peer review (publishing expenses not included).
• Highest scoring abstracts will automatically be entered into the WSES Best Paper Prize.

On behalf of the World Society of Emergency Surgery, it gives me great pleasure to announce early bird registration is now open for the 9th International Congress of the WSES – WSES 2022 – Frontiers of Emergency General Surgery, taking place in Perth, WA, from Thursday 27th – Sunday 30th October.   

Running over four days, WSES 2022 will provide national and international delegates with emergency surgical education, characterised by rapid and dynamic changes in knowledge, understanding of the surgical disease, new procedures, and advances in technologies; and the importance this has for modern surgical education and practice - inspiring young emergency surgeons of the future.
