WORLD CONGRESS

The World Congress on Fertility and Sterility is an event nearly as old as the IFFS itself. The consideration to hold a congress was explored when the IFFS formed in 1951. The first congress, held in 1953 in New York City was a joint meeting with the American Society for the Study of Sterility (later to become ASRM). The IFFS triennial congress has drawn numerous international luminaries from within the field of reproductive health care during the course of its 62 year history as a global event.

The International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) Scientific Committee invites you to participate in the 2022 World Congress through the submission of scientific abstracts for presentation. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Abstract and Advisory Team. Acceptance will be based on content, available space, and overall program balance. Both Oral and Poster abstract formats will be provided during the Congress. All abstract submissions must be made electronically through IFFS’ online abstract submission system.

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS), we are pleased to invite you to the 24th IFFS World Congress, April 3-6, 2022, in Athens, Greece. We will meet - in person - at the Megaron International Conference Centre, in the shadow of the Parthenon, and our gracious local hosts of the Hellenic Fertility and Sterility Society will welcome us all.

The IFFS World Congress provides a unique platform for attendees to convene, learn and discuss current advances in reproductive health, access to fertility care, and reproductive rights across the globe, and engage the patient perspective. The theme of the 24th World Congress is "Exploring New Horizons in Fertility Care”. Keynote lectures, panels, and our signature trilogy sessions will focus on innovations in male and female infertility, ART, clinical embryology, reproductive genetics, cross-border and third-party reproduction, endometriosis, adenomyosis, fibroids, endoscopic surgery, contraception, gynecological imaging, reproductive environmental health, menopause, and the patient perspective. Renowned international faculty will engage attendees, while free communications and poster sessions offer an opportunity to share cutting edge research and explore new ideas.

IFFS, founded in 1951 as the International Fertility Association (IFA), was formally chartered in 1968. For the past fifty plus years, the World Congress has been a destination for education, science and networking for professionals in the field of global reproductive healthcare. We have distinguished ourselves and are committed to accomplish our core mission: emphasize cutting edge basic and translational science; provide education to practitioners globally; promote high standards of care and advocacy for patients; and engage patients in their journeys in fertility and infertility care. Networking with colleagues and patients is a crucial element of the IFFS World Congress, particularly after we have all spent so much time in virtual environments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Athens is a hub of assisted reproductive technologies. Greece has 48 licensed ART Centres, most in Athens, 11 in the public sector (in all University Medical Schools, in an NHS Hospital and in the Naval Hospital of Athens) and 37 in the private sector. All up-to-date techniques are being applied, Greece has become a hub for cross-border reproductive care, due to our liberal legal framework and particularly the application of gamete donation and surrogacy in a well-regulated framework. Furthermore, Greece has top quality researchers in the field of ART who have contributed significantly to the global literature, as well as leading endoscopic surgeons who perform the most demanding endoscopic operations.
