2021年第17届亚洲移植学会大会(CAST)将于2021年7月25日至28日举行，会议结合：第24届马来西亚移植学会年度科学会议；第36届马来西亚肾脏病学会年会。

CAST是亚洲地区首屈一指的移植科学教育事件，届时将有来自美洲、欧洲和亚太地区的知名讲者和国际专家将同代表们一道，分享和讨论当前的技术和临床进展，会议将关注移植科学的各个方面，从临床和技术问题到诊断、社会经济学、生物伦理学和组织问题等等；会议形式包括全体会议和小型讲座、研究生课程和研讨会等。

Welcome message from the Organising Committee Chairman

It gives me a great pleasure to greet a traditional Selamat Datang in Malay (Welcome) to everyone of you who are directly or indirectly involved in the field of Transplantation to the charming Island of Penang in the north west of Peninsula Malaysia, which will be the venue of the 17th Congress of the Asian Society of Transplantation in July 2021.

Malaysian Society of Transplantation had previously hosted the 8th CAST in 2003 in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was highly successful and graced by more than 50 international experts from Asia Pacific, Europe and North America who shared their expertise in numerous areas varying from molecular diagnostics to newer therapeutics to deal with allograft rejections and other post-transplant complications including infections, metabolic abnormalities and malignancies. Since then, the field of clinical transplantation had advanced tremendously in several fronts but the basic challenges faced by many Asia Pacific countries then, remain very much so to date with most countries except Korea, New Zealand and Australia, recording low organ donation and transplantation rates.

We hope to gather as many experts and practitioners in transplantation to participate in CAST 2021, hence bring more expertise, interest and success to the national transplant program not only in Malaysia but also to the Asia Pacific region and beyond. Penang was previously described as the Pearl of the Orient , a bustling trading port populated by a mixture of ethnic Chinese, Indian and Malays which had influenced not just the local architecture and lingua franca but also bring with them the colorful aromatic mixture of local and fusion dishes to spoil the appetite of both locals and visitors. The state capital, George Town, is a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site since 2008. Penang Island is easily accessible from the mainland by road and commercial flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport or direct flights from Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong and several airports in the region.
