Greeting

The 28th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Breast Cancer Society will be held over three days from July 9 (Thursday) to 11 (Saturday), 2020 at Aichi Sky Expo (Tokoname City, Aichi), a new exhibition hall currently being built on Chubu Centrair International Airport island (completion due in September 2019). The venue is different from the Nagoya Congress Center (Atsuta-ku, Nagoya City) this time.

This year’s theme is “We Can Do – making better future.” 2020 is the year of the Tokyo Olympic Games and its opening ceremony will take place on July 24. The Olympic Games is the world's largest event, attracting athletes from all over the world to compete in strength and skill, and fostering friendships. The aim of our meeting is to be Japan’s preeminent event to discuss breast cancer from every angle, gathering delegates not just from Japan but all over the world and especially from Asia. Breast cancer care is delivered by experts in different fields. Our mission is to provide better medical care to patients with breast cancer by integrating this expertise, and this is reflected in the design of the official meeting poster. I hope that the meeting will facilitate discussion among professionals from diverse fields and subsequently lead to future research.

July is hot and is the rainy season in Japan but let’s make this a lively meeting as if we were at the Olympics in this compact venue, where very little walking is required. I am currently organizing the program and schedule with Dr Masataka Sawaki, Chair of the Organizing Committee, along with former members of the Department of Breast Oncology at Aichi Cancer Center Hospital.

I look forward to meeting many investigators from all over the world in Aichi 2020.
